Bring refugees Yahya & Alexander to Busselton
Yahya and his partner Alexander are refugees who are hoping to find a safe place to start their new lives.
We have been chatting online with Yahya since 2020 and following him receiving UNHCR recognition of refugee status recently, Busselton Pride Alliance Inc are now sponsoring their Visa applications for resettlement in Australia.
Having escaped civil war in Yemen and suffering harsh prejudices from family and society, Yahya remains at risk in the middle east, where homosexuality is a crime punishable by imprisonment or death, and so called “honour killings” are all too common for transgender and queer individuals.
Clare Paine and Mia Krasenstein are fundraising to assist Yahya and Alexander with:
- Document translation and processing fees
- Support with living expenses while awaiting processing
- Airfares from the middle east to Australia
- Groceries and other personal items needed once arrived
