“Absame went ahead and did his own personal investigation of checking the veracity of the faith he had imbibed at his mother’s, it turned out for him, this religion was false and the best decision for him was to leave. Absame acted on his convictions and stopped going to the mosque totally. It won’t be long before his dad found out about his new atheism. His father was aghast and took him to a correctional and conversion centre that could provide a change of mind. To them, it would seem, atheism was a form of neurosis.”

May 2021 – I have been introduced to a tragic story of a man whom we shall call Absame. Absame is a young somali man who lived and worked with his parents all his life, modestly and with no problems. And as with every child, he inherited the religion of his parents and maintained a strong relationship with this faith, until the periods of doubt came. It was Imam Ghazali who wrote in his classics that “those who do not doubt have not looked, those who have not looked cannot see, and those who cannot see will remain blind, confused and in error”.
Absame went ahead and did his own personal investigation of checking the veracity of the faith he had imbibed at his mother’s, it turned out for him, this religion was false and the best decision for him was to leave. Absame acted on his convictions and stopped going to the mosque totally. It won’t be long before his dad found out about his new atheism. His father was aghast and took him to a correctional and conversion centre that could provide a change of mind. To them, it would seem, atheism was a form of neurosis.
In this correctional centre, Absame was packed with individuals who were addicted to drugs and treated in many disgusting and inhumane ways. After six months in agony, Absame had no choice than to fake conversion back into islam and go back home with his father and live a lie. He had already been doing this for a year. He is tired of it, he wants a new life elsewhere, where he could be free and own himself.
Staying alone means fending for himself, a modest accommodation and business where he can get his daily bread from, he had tried getting loans from banks to get all of these done but to no avail. His friend had recommended The Secular Underground Network. Absame needs our help through donations to at least get a BAJAJ which he can use for a transportation business. That way, he can fend for himself and live freely as he is supposed to be.
